Edgewater was a subdivision developed by John Lewis Cochran after he purchased land in the town of Lake View. Cochran divided the area making the eastern edge known as Edgewater. Here he built mansions along the lake and smaller homes to the west. This area became exclusive in the early 20th century when the Saddle and Cycle Club moved here and the construction of the Edgewater Beach Hotel and Edgewater Beach Apartments.
Edgewater is home to some of the most iconic buildings of the 20th century. This includes the Edgewater Beach Hotel and Apartments. Most of this area was designed by the architects Marshall and Fox with a Historical /Beau-arts design.
Uncommon Ground is a casual, vibrant spot with sustainable eats and live music. Calo offers spectacular Italian food from pizza to steak and seafood. Indie Bar + Sushi and Noodles is a women-owned restaurant with a savory Thai and simple Japanese combination menu.
Lady Gregory’s is an upscale farm-to-table bar and restaurant. Little Bad Wolf has over 200 beers on their menu, many whiskey and cocktail specials, and is paired with comfort food in a relaxed setting. Burke’s Public House is a neighborhood pub with two bars, sports on the tv, and an upscale menu.
