River North is one of the most populated neighborhoods of art galleries in the world right after Manhattan. It is home to a lively community and nightlife on and near Hubbard Street.
The Near West Side has been home to a diverse population since the beginning. Originally the area was settled by African Americans, then in the early 1800s European immigrants settled in the Near West Side neighborhood. This area is famous for where the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 started. This left hundreds of thousands homeless in this area. Additionally, it has been home to the Black Panthers Headquarters during the Civil Right Movement. There is so much rich and diverse history in the streets of the Near West Side neighborhood.
Originally the Near West Side was home to industrial buildings and wholesale markets as it was a very business-centric area. Over the years, this neighborhood has been converted into modern high-rises, amazing restaurants, and office buildings that we can see today.
